About us

Georg Jensen Damask is a renowned collection of classic textiles for your home. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, tablecloths, napkins and nightwear that you'll want to own forever.

We are one of Denmark’s oldest design companies, and since 1756 we have been leaders in our ambition to create luxurious quality textiles that make your everyday life a little better. It takes care, craftsmanship and insight, and that’s just what we’ve inherited over generations.

We cherish the craft of weaving to preserve the quality we are known for and because we believe that expertise is the way forward, including when it comes to sustainability and responsible production.

Georg Jensen Damask is family-owned and has been awarded the designation of Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court after a long-standing co-operation with the Danish Royal House.

Our history

Georg Jensen Damask’s heritage is unique. We have been weaving textiles since 1756, when an enterprising couple from Kolding, Denmark purchased a loom and started a production of linen and duvet covers. Over the generations, the weaving mill went from being a traditional village weaving mill to a textile industry, and today it is a recognised design brand with household textiles as its main focal point.

The damask weaving and the first jacquard loom were of especial importance to the company’s success. The damask technique made it possible to weave freely drawn patterns, such as those we know today from the Christmas tablecloth, for example. At the Paris World’s Fair in 1878, Georg Jensen Damask was awarded a silver medal for one of the first damask patterns, laying the foundation for the string of award-winning textile designs that have followed.

In the post-World War II era and throughout the 1960s, Bent Georg Jensen introduced a series of unique minimalist patterns based on the ancient craft of weaving, and since then we have innovated with repetition, geometry and rigour in the creation of modern textile design.

In our work with the iconic patterns, we have engaged some of Scandinavia's most talented designers, and in our design archive you will find textile designs by Bodil Bødtker-Næss, Arne Jacobsen, John Becker, Jette Nevers, Cecilie Manz and Andreas Engesvik, among others, as well as examples of hundreds of years of weaving tradition, which we continuously revisit and adapt to contemporary requirements.

At Georg Jensen Damask, we work every day to carry on the traditional weaving craft and develop our expertise with a vision to continue creating textile designs where quality and aesthetics go hand in hand.
